Hi...I'm DJ Bm2 (pronounced bee-em square) aka BlendMaster Mixxx. I am the CEO and founder of BG2 Entertainment DJ Service. BG2 stands for Bridging Generations 2Gether in which I notice what friends and families do through music, dance and celebrating.

I first discovered my talents recording songs off the radio. By pressing the pause button while recording and then releasing it at the exact moment the next hit comes on, I could create an effect that resembles a DJ cutting in a new song or extending the original song which took a lot of time and patients. This was quite challenging to do considering all the commercial interruptions from radio personalities who love to talk in between songs that seem to always kill your mix.

 

I then graduated from recording from the radio to recording mix tapes from vinyl. This was all credited to my step-father who had a passion for music and introduced me to the two turntables and a microphone world that he had of his own. It was set up down in our basement. I used to hunt all over the house for his needles that he would hide so no one will play on his equipment. So every time I disobeyed him after finding his needles, was my motivation to make the best mixed tape every time so I can impress him and give him the confidence that I can handle this DJ thing. There’s more to this story but we’ll wait till the movie, but meanwhile after all was said and done...DJ BlendMaster Mixxx was born.

 

When I graduated high school in 1985, I joined the US. Army and was able to purchase my own equipment while being stationed at FT Richardson Alaska. I began doing private parties, birthday, NCO Clubs, weddings and putting mixes together for my entertainment organization named P.P.I. (Party People Incorporation). In 1989 I changed my duty station to Ft. Lewis in Washington State and debuted in my first gig at a lounge named F.B. Onassis Restaurant and Lounge and had built quite a following. I left the US. Army with confidence that my daytime job and DJ. lifestyle, would be a smooth transition.

 

Music began to change and so did the means of how it was being recorded. It was now time for me to hang up the vinyl and now transition to CD's and MP3's. Going mobile was beginning to look more like the way to go. In January 2000, it was time to take my show on the road and leave the bar scene. By going mobile made my music genre to expand considerably. I specialize in 70's, 80's, 90's, Hip-Hop & R&B, Pop, Jazz & Blues, Top 40, Old school, Funk, Latino, Reggae and Dance music. Being a DJ who loves request has contributed in me collaborating a dynamic music library that will sure to have many clients satisfied and singing to your car.

 

 

Our Philosophy
 

I'm a true believer in treating the customer as no.1. I really enjoy sitting down with our first meet and greet to get to know one another. DJ’ing for an audience is one of my favorite things to do however it takes a combination of strategy, preparation and observation to be successful. Prior to an event I always ask my clients for a short must play song list. Once I receive a must play list, I prepare a list of songs that compliments a clients must playlist to provide a unique DJ set for each client. 

 

I make it my practice to get to any event 2 hours before so if there are any adjustments or changes I’m prepared to adapt to any situation. I like outside events as well as long as the weather is friendly enough to concentrate on the entertainment and not the weather.

 

Despite preparation and strategy, it’s still very important for any DJ to observe what is working and what is not working. If a crowd seems receptive to a certain genre, I usually make note of it and see what other genres of music I can introduce and get the same favorable results. Varying different genres of music into a dance set  helps stimulate interests and restores enthusiasm.  If a genre of music has less than a desired effect, I will mix out of that genre and play another genre that an audience appears to like.  Body language is crucial for a DJ to observe during a dance set.
